# Tampa king tides and high water in 1996

> In 1996, NOAA's St. Petersburg tide gauge recorded water high enough for FloodRoute's model to put at least one Tampa road at risk on 1 day. The highest was 5.84 ft on Tuesday, October 8, 1996, 3.83 ft above the tide tables, with 22 roads at risk, including East Brorein Street, West Brorein Street and South 22nd Street.

**Estimates, not records of actual flooding.** Each day is NOAA's verified high water at the tide gauge, run through FloodRoute's flood model on today's roads and elevations, in dry weather. Drains, levees, tide gates, rain, road changes and elevation error all mean real conditions differed. Not for property, real-estate, insurance, lending, engineering or legal decisions.

## Every day with roads at risk (1)

| Date | High water (St. Petersburg gauge, ft MLLW) | vs tide tables | Roads at risk | Severity | Deepest streets (model) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 8, 1996 | 5.84 | +3.83 ft | 22 | Likely | East Brorein Street, West Brorein Street, South 22nd Street |
